On May 22nd, 2015, our owner Sean Derfield, who owns Der Biergarten in Midtown Sacramento and The River City Saloon in Old Sacramento, was in an accident involving the Sacramento Light Rail train. He recalls nothing from that day as well as not recalling much from his 3 weeks in the ICU and his 10 days in the rehabilitation center.
With the 1 year anniversary of his accident approaching, he wanted to thank the firefighters that cut him out of his truck and give back to the doctors and nurses that saved his life and took such great care of him during his 4 weeks in their care. After searching for a good cause he chose The Department of Surgery at UC Davis Health System.
He has decided that the year anniversary will be a time of reflection that life is not all about work. It’s about living and enjoying. So on May 26th, 2016, 100% of sales at Der Biergarten will be donated to the UC Davis- Department of Surgery. So come enjoy and live a little with all sales that day going to the charity.
On The Road To Recovery.
