Der Biergarten Gives Back: Celebrating 9 Years of Gratitude and Support for Firefighters

Sacramento, CA – May 9, 2024 – Der Biergarten, a well known restaurant in Midtown Sacramento, and its owner Sean Derfield, are proud to announce their special  fund raiser event, “Der Biergarten Gives Back,” in honor of the firefighters who saved Mr. Derfield’s life in a tragic accident 9 years ago.

On May 22nd, 2015, Sean Derfield was involved in a life-altering accident with the Sacramento Light Rail train. The incident left him with no recollection of that fateful day, as well as his subsequent three weeks in the ICU and ten days in rehabilitation. Grateful for the firefighters who courageously cut him out of his destroyed truck and saved his life, Mr. Derfield vowed to express his appreciation over the years that followed that day.

As the 9 year anniversary of this life-changing event approaches, Der Biergarten is hosting a special fund raiser event on May 21st, 2024. The event aims to raise awareness and funds for The Firefighters Burn Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support, education, and resources to burn survivors and promoting fire safety education across California.

“We are incredibly grateful to the firefighters who risk their lives every day to protect our community. Their selfless acts of bravery deserve recognition and support,” said Sean Derfield, owner of Der Biergarten. “This Event is our way of expressing gratitude and to give back to those who have given so much to our community.”

The fund raiser event will start at 11am and will feature delicious food and drinks and  live music with Brett Blackburn from 5:30pm till 9pm. 100% of all sales from the day will be donated to The Firefighters Burn Institute to aid their ongoing efforts in supporting burn survivors and promoting fire safety and  help fund their lifesaving operation.

“This event is about giving back to the community and those firefighters that keep the community safe,” said Derfield.
